“Divine Healing” by Aimee Semple McPherson

Rev. Aimee Semple McPherson
(1890 - 1944)
Aimee Semple McPherson was born in Canada, and became an early Pentecostal evangelist, rising to prominence in the USA in the 1920s. Using new technology of the day, (an automobile and radio broadcasts), for evangelism, she captured the public's imagination. Aimee held tent meetings in which countless sinners came to Christ, and believers were filled with the Spirit and spoke in tongues. Strong manifestations of the Holy Spirit accompanied her meetings including falling under the power, shaking, laughing in the Spirit, individuals (including children) having visions of Christ, and countless individuals being miraculously healed. Eventually she settled in Los Angeles, pioneering her church which she named Angelus Temple, and also founding Life Bible College. Sister Aimee was well known to the early Pentecostals, including Smith Wigglesworth, who preached at her church. Rev. McPherson founded the Foursquare denomination, that carries on her work today.
